Psalms or CNN?

Psalms or CNN?

Psalms or CNN? Truth or lies? Faith or sight?

BY LASZLO LAK

As Christians living in this world, we are constantly bombarded by what we see and hear. On the surface, it looks as though we are out numbered. The world, our flesh, and satan, are all working in concert together.

On our best day, we might be able to stand up against any two of them. But all three at once?! Now is when we realize the fire that we are in is not meant to consume us, but to refine us and make us stronger. Now is when we understand the battle that we are in, the objective of the enemy, and the outcome for us.

Now is not the time for halfway, halfhearted faith. This is when our faith goes to work.

When we stand strong on God’s word, over the world media we tune in the psalms and can tune out CNN.

We press harder into the truth that is the Word of God and stand on the promises. The result is the lies are exposed. We no longer walk, move, and live by what we see, but our faith is increased knowing God is in control. He has not abandoned His plan for His children. Nor is He surprised with the outcome of elections or events here on earth… or the corruption of man. We see it. Our righteous souls are vexed. It makes no sense! But in everyone of these things, let’s focus on The Word of God instead.

“Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you, and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice, blessed are those who wait for Him!”
Isaiah 30:18

“The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear, though war may rise against me in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after, That I may dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion, in the secret place of His tabernacle, He shall hide me, He shall set me high upon a rock!”
Psalm 27

Everything we face. All that is against us. On the surface, looks overwhelming.

But God.

Those two words change everything!

God our Heavenly Father, is on the throne. He will provide for His children. Let’s look at the battle like David did. The entire army stood in fear as they saw the giant standing before them. David was the only one, to see the Lord Strong and Mighty, standing behind the giant. No contest!

“Do not be afraid, for those who are with us, are MORE than those who are with them…”
2 Kings 6:16

The enemy wants us to focus on the here and now. We’ll trust the here and now to the Lord, Strong and Mighty! He is able, more than able, to handle what concerns me today.

Let’s keep going. Trusting God all the more.

Psalms or CNN?

No contest.

Standing on the Promises
By R. Kelso Carter

Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Psalms CNN
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Blessings!
